Who We Are

History

The Uncommonwealth Group Incorporated was formed in March of 2022. The co-founders are Charles Luster and Soloe Dennis. They saw a need within the community for men of color to give back and create positive change within the community.

They saw great opportunities by working together with black people from around the world who shared common African heritage. Whether born in Africa or in America or anywhere else in the world black man have value and to share their knowledge would be value to the community. The goal of the Un Commonwealth group is to mentor young black and brown boys into positions of leadership as well as well as philanthropy.
In June of 2022 the Uncommonwealth Group created the Black Music Festival to celebrate Black Music month and to bring together people from around the world to enjoy black food culture and community. This is a free event and money was raised to sponsorship and member donations.
The Black Music Festival is a community event open to all, but showcasing black vendors ,artists musicians . The black music festival showcased young children to season performers from local to international talent. From live music and dance, to DJ's being showcased.
We have partnered with local non-profit 2Gether We Eat and Worcester Public Schools to begin mentoring underserved youth at the Vernon Hill school. This program called Planting Seeds will include the use of hydroponic farming, healthy eating, and stem education as well as male role modeling. This program was developed in response to the violence in our community and is our way of assisting those who are most likely to be affected by the violence, black and brown boys. We are here to serve!
